Dave and I have gotten our COVID and flu vaccines. We would have gotten RSV also, but it was $350 for each of us. We'll wait on that one for awhile. I'm a huge believer in preventive medicine... mammograms, colonoscopies, PSA tests for men, and daily exercise of some sort. I don't know if these things will lengthen my life, but they certainly improve my quality of life right now. I'm thankful all are available.
I wanted an RSV shot too (I have a history of asthma), but when they said my insurance didn't cover it, I said "nevermind." I didn't ask how much it would be, but yikes! $350?? You guys are the picture of health and an inspiration to me. And you're right. Quality of life is important too!
I did get my flu shot, love walking especially on the beach and drink smoothies with collagen and now kefir for extra probiotics. Praying for full recovery from surgery, Linda, so you can get back to walking .
I bake my own sourdough and drink kombucha everyday. I also grow my own veggies (kale for my smoothies as well as a daily salad ingredient). I sure hope all this is saving my life! I can’t complain at 72….. still walking w/no surgeries and no prescription drugs. 😎
You look so healthy, Catherine! I envy all of your hiking (literally around the world!), and look forward to being able to hike again without pain! Keep eating those fresh, homegrown veggies!
I have been drinking a smoothie quite regularly for many years now. It almost tastes like a choc shake: frozen banana, ice, spinach, avocado, peanut butter, cocoa powder, flax seed, a little monk fruit sweetener, and almond milk. Yum! I have been a consistent walker for many years, too, but now am training to run a 5k Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day! I don’t love to run but I love how it makes me feel. 😊 I too am realizing how important it is to take care of our physical bodies so that we can be useful for the Lord for the second half of our life. 😊
The chocolate smoothie sounds great! I need to break out of my rut and try it. Good luck on that 5K. I'm definitely NOT a runner, LOL. And yes, I pray we have a lot of life left to live for the Lord!

Thanks for the shout out! Wishing you the best with your hip surgery. Hope you have a speedy & full recovery. Those smoothies will help! Keep it up!
Thanks, Karen! And thanks again, for all of your sage advice. 👏
