A lovely Saturday morning read, Linda. Presence expands us, but absence can renew us. I think Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote about how we need both solitude and togetherness a bit in his (old) book Life Together.
I really need to read that book (again?). I vaguely remember a Sunday school series on it years ago (probably during my early parenting years, when I had no brain cells left for it), and I hear it quoted so often that I know it contains some good stuff. I love what you said above about expanding and renewing. Thanks for your beautiful insight on relationships!
Linda, having just come home from a week caring for my 1 year old granddaughter, I can relate to this! I have gotten used to an empty nest and having much more “me” time. Chasing after my son’s baby girl has reminded me of the selflessness required of parents of young children. ;) I’m so thankful for the opportunities God gives us to “grow our hearts bigger” ❤️ Loved your perspective!
Oh yes! Time with the grandkids is a prime example. I absolutely can't wait to see them and shower them with hugs and kisses. But I'm spent by the time our visits are over! We'll have the grands and their parents at the cabin for the first time in August and I can't imagine how different that will feel from the quiet I have here now, LOL! It's all good. Thanks for chiming in!
Thank you, Linda for the great reminder! I loved hearing your voice.
Thank you! I'm glad you listened in. 😊
This is so sweet - it really does sound like living the dream!
Yes…we’re loving it. But still getting used to the whole idea of a “summer home.” So strange to be so far away from “home-home”.
I'm glad cabin life is working for both of you!
We’re definitely learning as we go!
